Digital age
The youth today are the first generation to grow up with constant access to social media and digital gaming. These platforms can be useful for staying connected and informed, they can also create pressure to be “perfect” or “popular” online, lead to cyberbullying, and lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, contributing to the overall decline of the child’s mental health.
Academic pressure
Many young people face high levels of academic pressure, whether from parents, peers or themselves. The pressure to excel academically can lead to stress, anxiety and burnout.
Family and social factors
Family instability, trauma and social isolation all contribute to poor mental health outcomes and feelings of hopelessness about the future among young people.
Substance use
Substance use including, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs increases the risk of mental health problems and other risky behaviors among young people.

Sports help youth to be better contributors to society. Research shows a child’s involvement in sports is linked to higher grades, lower dropout rate, reduced truancy and lower crime rates.
